From the coal country of Utah to coast-to-coast service, our journey has always been about people.
Smith Coaches Inc. was founded in 1977 in Price, Utah by Ed Smith. What began as a modest operation—three buses shuttling miners to and from the coal mines of Carbon and Sanpete Counties—quickly gained a reputation rooted in safety, reliability, and service to the community.
By the early 1980s, word of our dependable service had spread beyond the mines. Smith Coaches expanded to include charter and shuttle services for ski resorts and group outings throughout Utah and surrounding states. These formative years also marked our first ventures into the world of group tours, laying the groundwork for the company’s continued growth and expertise in group transportation.
Over the decades, Smith Coaches has transitioned from a regional shuttle provider into a mature, coast-to-coast charter service capable of meeting the needs of groups across the United States and beyond. Our reputation for professionalism, safety, and attention to detail has been built mile after mile, trip after trip—earned through satisfied clients who return time and again and share their experiences with others.
Today, Smith Coaches operates from locations in Helper, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado. While we no longer create or lead tours, we are well-equipped to handle charter transportation to any destination, coast to coast. Smith Coaches Inc is an independently owned charter coach/tour bus company founded in Price, UTah in 1977.
